Entry: Feeling much more neolithic after Thursday's party and a day off in Konya.

Gen was sick today, what a pity on her birthday. Maxime joined us like the day before yesterday, and Asuman, Zafer and Zeliha from the Selcuk team joined us.

The Selcuklular agreed that the stone lined grave in the NE corner of the trench deserves elevations to be drawn, so they started with that today.

Ross and Naomi continued working in the NW corner of the trench digging out the discolouration in the arbitrary spit 14213 that is somehow attached to molehole 14218. We have taken out unit numbers 14231 and 14232 for it, although it now appears not be a grave but just a continuation of the same molehole. Contains some human bones, though. But what does not contain human bones here on that mound?

Alex and Katie H. removed the mudbricks (14227) of feature 2414. When they first found them on June 28th, we thought that they surround a grave, which we attributed a fill number 14221. Digging down that fill, we changed our mind and decided it is a backfill into a robbing pit that destroyed a mudbrick covering, as more soft soil seemed to run under the mudbricks (possible original grave fill). After removal of the mudbricks nothing else came up, though, so we are not even sure anymore if there was really a grave or not, since only a few loose bonescame up from the structure.

After the removal of the topsoil of the baulk with 14220, the missing corner of the mudbrick lining 13725 of grave feature 2403 as well as the fill came up as expected. We attributed a new fill unit number 14235 to the fill, as it was dug in several arbitrary spits last year. Naomi strated drawing that today.

In the W of the trench, the plastered mudbrick Ben identified the day before yesterday turned out to be only compacted mud around a decayed fallen mudbrick. It lies in a wonderful surface of grey hardish rubble with orange specks of burned mud, which we will clean tomorrow. As the slight consistency differences we identiefied on June 28th seem to disappear in the W of the trench, Ben, Katie K, Ray and Gen have to discuss tomorrow if it really makes sense to dig all of them separately.

In the area Frank and Peter had staked out on the E slope of the canal the day before yesterday, kebceci Abdullah from the Karkin Belediyesi dug down astep almost 2m deep which retrieved loose soil from the canal cutting and the road leveling, but we hope that a thorough scraping of the profiles And the planum will sow us some Archaeological stratigraphy, and most hopefully late Neolithic ceramics.Entered By: ER
