Entry: | Today went considerably faster than yesterday thankfully, following more sleep and a milder night. Put with TEB again (we still havent had a row), brushing up both the mudbrick surround of 13725 and in the case of TEB, some particularly stupid ants. Were then trusted with feature 2408, previously worked on by AJEP. This was an error on behalf of ER for thinking TEB and myself could be competent mudbrick identifiers. Whilst attempting to remove 'topsoil' we proceeded to take out much of the mudbrick wall and surface of the feature alongside the midden (which turned out not to be a midden- but another wall. We love walls in West Mound).
Mild catastrophe. Think TEB takes such errors in judgement too seriously. He needs to accept people must make mistakes before they improve. But I think he knows this.
Meanwhile- AJEP's rather sexy burial structure may be more articulated than he first thought. Here, I hope I am right. I have been criticised endlessly for my lack of optimism on site and I resent this. Am highly positive indiviual. Anyway, found a bit of a pelvis which looks in situ although the total grave structure in general is a bit confusing.
Seemed to have gained ER's forgiveness by the end of the day with the extention of mudbrick. We made up for our obliteration of bricks by the discovery of new ones (TEB discovered them, I brushed). I think it's a bit difficult at the moment. The Turkish team are clustered in one corner and I sometimes find it hard to communicate amidst trowels going missing and the odd mobile phone going off. I have decided, and have much support in this, that I am not very patient with people unless they are dead.
Labwork consisted of the usual- feel am getting back into the swing of identifying things, and KH is a great source of help and chat. However, I would like to get through the bags of bones that we have accumulated so far before AJEP's burial appears and no doubt a few others given the presence of grave structures on site.
P.s. have just read Naomi's comments and found them almost identical to mine considering communication. I'm glad it isnt just me.Entered By: HSL |
