Work in Ist Area continued in Building 63 in Space 283, the burnt storage room of the building; in Space 289, the narrow room on north.

In Space 283, Amy and Müge worked to collect burnt seeds on four different spots. They started with the concentration of barley seeds stuck externally to the north wall of bin 1967: unit 13962. They got three different bags, i.e., s1, s2, s3.

s1 consists of barley collected from the crack of the wall of the bin (there was a crack on the north wall of the bin).
s2 consists of barley and soil and burnt kerpiç collected from the inside of the bin
s3 consists of barley collected below s2; the fill under the kerpiç platform of the bin

The second area of concentration of seeds (Unit 13963) is located on the southwest corner of the space. It is probably related with 13919. They seem to stuck to the northern inner face of the south wall of space 283.

The third area concentration of seeds (13964) is located on the northwest corner of the space.

The fourth area, on the northwest corner (13965) shows a layer of burnt seeds. It probably belongs to a destroyed bin. There lies a thick kerpiç layer on top of the layer, as if the bin (?) was later covered. The area will be investigated and excavated in the coming days.

Space 289 of Building 63: Under the floor level of the space, on the northern corner, we found a cluster (13932) consisting of natural rocks, a sherd, and a ground stone. Kathy and Serkan came to see the cluster in the morning. After documenting, we removed the rocks and a second layer of rocks and bones appeared (got the same cluster number): a scapula, two horns together with a heap of rocks. One of the horn cores has whitish traces. Phil identified it as a basket due to the concentric traces and got samples for phytolith analysis.Traces show that the rocks should have been in a basket.

South of this cluster, we found a skull. We first thought of it as an animal skull, but then it turned out to be a human, a baby?, burial. There is no cut. It seems it was laid directly on the ground, below the floor level. Başak kindly accepted to clean the skeleton.

We continue removing the kerpiç pavement, F. 1971, south of Building 63. What we do is to draw, photograph and remove the courses of kerpiç block and mortar. The method of construction is interesting; it is different than the construction of walls. In each course, the blocks/mortar were laid in opposite orientation (see photo with a label: bindirmeli teknik).

We removed the floor of an oven, F.1995, on the south of Space 284. Got archive samples. The oven was destroyed by an intrusive late period pit, exposed in 2005.
