| Entry: | Today there is one good and one bad message about the area Katie and me are working on. The good message is that after hours of scraping we identified four walls (features 5054, 5055, 5056 and 5057) which close space 341, the room whose fill we have been removing the last days. The bad message is that we recognized walls 5054 and 5056 in the north and south and west only now, means we have put a lot of effort into removing them with large picks along with the room fill unit 16833 in the last days. The reason for this was that firstly these walls are even harder to see than all the others, because they do not seem to have internal mortar, just plaster on the outsides, the reason why we finally saw them. Secondly these two walls are just some centimeters apart from two other walls, features 2425 and 2408, which we took for the borders of the room.
At least we have our room now, space 341, and I guess it will feel better emptying it in the next days, when we finally can be sure that we are not just destroying some archaeology. Hopefully. |
