Entry: Space 156:
The fallen part of the western wall is now excavated and it did rest on the trampled surface below at the southern end. An accumulated deposit (may also be partly dumped at the northern end, unit numbers 3228, 3241, 3242, 3243) is under the wall and over the trampled surface. The deposit consists of a dark grey clay with many flecks of charcoal and towards the bottom a more homogeneous grey clay. This deposit may be important as it represents the last events in the room before the wall fell down and the space was filled in.
The trampled surface looks interesting. Is seems to consist of a few layers, on top a dark sticky clay with bits of plaster here and there. In an animal hole I can see other layers under it. The northern part of this surface (under unit 3243) looks different with an orange brick under a very thin layer of grey clay. Does the brick like layer represent a feature?
On the surface I found a few stones, one has made a dent in it, probably as the wall came down on it. There was also a polished bone ring, very small, with some signs of wear (according to Rissa). Resting against the wall the was also a scapula, which unfortunately came to pieces when I uncovered it. It is interesting as Mark has found several scapula in his room with the bins.
The part just under the fallen wall has siliceous plant remains visible at the top. Arlene has already taken her sample there. I have to draw the section of the baulks between the units of the deposit before Wendy can take her samples. As long as the samples can be planned according to our excavation it is no problem to have different specialists taking their own samples.

Comment on space tour (again):
Maybe it would have been better if we were provided with an explanation why the second tour was not announced and only specially invited welcomed. I guess it was to have a better discussion with fewer people, but as the first one was open to all, an explanation to everyone would have been in place. Everything to avoid the us/them division. (or maybe I am just being oversensitive?)Entered By: Åsa Berggren
