Entry: Half way through the week and I am reasonably happy. Adnan is back and has started removing more infilling in space 155 but still no signs of floors although there is evidence that some raised structure at the souhern end has been truncated. Åsa in 156 has removed all of the collapsed wall and is now dealing with some form of brick/mortar packing/re-build up against the northern wall. Mark in 157 has got the infilling down to the level where he can start half sectioning the bins. In 154 we are continuing removing the infilling down to the highest floors etc. The scars on the eastern and western walls both have associated pits confirming their interpretation as post retrival pits. Sharon is digging the one on the western wall which has produced some worked bone and an obsidian projectile point, a similar pattern to building 1. There is also a large pit in the south-east corner which looks like it may be associated with the ladder, possibly the ladder was removed like the posts. The pattern of the floors in space 154 is becoming clearer. In the southern part there are 'dirty' deposits around the fire instalation. There is then a ridge/step, after this there is the 'greasy' trample deposit. To the west of this there is a step up, currently obscured by a baulk, onto plaster floors. There is also of course the south-west platform which has been visible for some time. The ridge/step is very reminiscent of my room in the Mellaart area last year. The pits give us a number of sections through deposits and as far as I can see the four fold division of space 154 - 'dirty' fire area, platform, 'greasy' surface and plastered area - seems to be long lived, possibly extending thrughout the history of the space. Hopefully in another couple of days we can move onto the baulks and get rid of them.Entered By: Craig Cessford
