Entry: | Things have been a bit lonely in space 154 as Serdar has gone to 155 and Sharon has moved to 157. The baulks in space 154 have been drawn, sampled by Bill and Wendy and then completely removed. it feels so good to have got rid of them, the space is much more understandable and easier to visualise without them. I estimate it cost us c.5 to 6 extra days time to do it with baulks than if we had excavated it without them. We discussed this at the last priority tour and the concensus [ie mainly Christine, Julie and Wendy] is that it is worthwhile. I am unconvinced that the results justify the expenditure of effort and time. I have now started to remove the infilling from the western niche on the southern wall. The infilling is fairly sterile but the niche is quite shallow and interestingly shaped. Hopefully by the end of the week I will have removed the material from the niches and cleaned up for general photography/planning. I am still uncertain about how much floors we will get dug, especially as the flotation samples have to be collected by around the 5th of September to allow for processing.
In 155 Adnan and Serdar continue to go downwards but still haven't reached floors. In 156 Asa has sorted ou the northern wall and is now trying to sort out the eastern/southern walls. In 157 Mark and Sharon have half sectioned most of the bins. No obvious organic fills in them but maybe the samples will tell us something.Entered By: Craig Cessford |
