Excavation Diary Entry

Entry: Depressing to start every diary entry with an apology for lack of entries, so I won't. Today TEB and MIB took down a room fill, 16896. We also found a cluster of pots which is now 16899 in the North-Western corner. We also sorted out the buttresses so we have three new unit numbers. The room fill is full of bones with pottery in the Western and Eastern edges abutting the section and wall 2428. The presence of the buttress (5062) in the Western profile is particularly annoying as it means we must have a wall only a few centimetres into the section. The shelter is too close to test this hypothesis by extending the trench further.

If the purposes of these diaries are reflexive as well as multi-vocal, which I think we have decided they are, it should be noted that I was pretty angry yesterday. This probably means I mattocked a little more forcefully and sieved more vigorously. On the subject of sieving, there seems to be a wide divergence in both the speed and the exactitude of different sievers. This may be solved tomorrow as we may get a workman to help.
