| Entry: | 11th August. Still not finished. Yesterday I didn't work because I couldn't balance for some reason, so wasn't safe on the trench. Today I got back to F279. Much of the stratigraphy is circular - everything is over what it is also under. I discussed it with Shahina and we decided to remove a mixed deposit that seemed to be dump over and under the west end, but the more I worked on it, the more it seemed to be part of the inner material. Although we might eventually find how it was made and the sequence of deposition in 116, I doubt we'll ever know what it once was, and it is taking up an unbelievable amount of time - partly because of the number of people interested in it. I'm more concerned at present to find out whether it was attached to the wall, a question which naturally depends partly on what bits belong and what bits don't!Entered By: Naomi Hamilton |
