Entry: | TEB and I had JFB back in space 343 today, after the removal of the neonate from space 342. The three-person team works very well for shifting large amounts of earth. We are able to specialize tasks and move very quickly. It slows down about when TEB is called away constantly for levels and such, but with PFB now doing a lot with the total station, this is less of an issue.
Our suspicions that we had reached the bottom of our layer, that the fill was changing, seem to have been incorrect. At least, that is my prediction. I believe that if we take the bottom down another 5 cm, we would still see no change. What we thought was the beginning of something new coming in the NW corner of the unit (18314), may just be a pocket of one of the variety of fill compositions we find scattered randomly throughout with no real divisions or cuts.
Along the eastern edge of the unit (18314), the wall (feat. 5050 = 2425) shows the beginning of another course of our newly discovered mud brick type. I am incredibly curious of what will follow below. After we complete the process of leveling out the current base of the unit (which will be finished before breakfast tomorrow), I’m not sure if we will continue to go down, or attempt to make some sense of the Northern side of the space. TEB believes he has found the NW corner of feat. 5074, so we may be exploring there. |
