Excavation Diary Entry

Name: PDGDF
Team:
Date: 7/31/2010
Entry: We are excavating on the north side of B. 86 wall F. 5024. We documented a thin small layer of silt with ash between the components (19117), and then we started excavating a very compact layer which should be probably interpreted as wall collapse or demolition. As soon as we finish excavating (19118), which is a very thick layer, we can remove part of the wall, which has been already documented by Chris (CA), and scanned by Maurizio using the Trimble laser scanner. The company sent two Trimble at the end, also if one is very old and doesn't work well, and the new one miss the most important piece, the tablet! Without the tablet the scanner cannot work.

Julia, Patrik and Jonathan are doing a great job with the 3D reconstruction of artifacts. Fabrizio is post-processing the units scans, and he will be able to show the results as soon as we have the possibility to organize a seminar on our work.
