Excavation Diary Entry

Entry: I have been working on a late burial for the last few days of excavation, unfortunately it seems to be disturbed in a few ways. The skull is missing, along with most of the lower limb. At first, the ribs had been pick axed through (when we came upon the burial), which were just about 5-10 cm from the grass surface. The spine and lower extremities have been found with their posterior surfaces towards the surface - maybe even if this burial was disturbed from erosion and looters, the body was buried face down. After discussing this with some of the experts in human remains, it could be a possibility of this, and would be significant to document as such with the interpretations of such a position. The burial was head to the west (if there were a head), east-west direction. It has been frustrtation excavating it, as I'd like to be as fast as others who do the burials, but this burial is mixed in the position of it's bones - it is hard to predict what you will hit when excavating the fill of it. I had wanted to finish this today, but I had gotten so much dust in my eyes that my contacts were irritating so badly I had to leave the site for the day. Glasses from now on I guess.
