Excavated small layer of ‘packing’? [1336] visible on S. side of wall over visible oven lining [3334] and [3320] and below wall. - excavated remainder of [3334] and [3320] below wall. Planned oven floor [3351]. Excavated remnant ? of plaster floor that TC had planned [ ? ]. Took archmag. Samples from oven floor at the N. end where floor in good condition - not taking any from middle & S. parts of floor exposed so far as appear to be eroded and in poor condition. Bill took samples from the same part of floor for chemical analysis - also discussed with Wendy about sample through oven once half section completed - also leaving section through part of W. end of space 150 where have at least one ashy/occupation deposit.
