Excavated oven floor [3351] after checking with AR about samples. Down onto [3363] which appears to be material laid as an oven floor but which was not affected by the heat. Planned and excavated [3363] up to section line. This exposed a rim of structural material at the rear (S.) end of the oven [3372] planned. - [called off site early] Work a little slow at the moment - everything appears stratigraphically under oven 252 which makes it difficult to do anything else in space 150/151. Half-sectioning features also slows things down & leaves backlog of half finished plans etc. Also delays waiting for level.
In space 150 leaving a baulk across the E. end has also caused problems since impossible to follow layers through - making it a more difficult task to excavate the plaster floors. Maybe could lose this baulk and leave a smaller block for WM to sample. TC up this afternoon - planned plaster wall [3371] against feature at E. end of space 150. However not certain that this stratigraphically free at present.Entered By: Richard Turnbull
