Entry: Excavator's log, some Thursday.
First thing I did today was to take out the finds of unit 15172 that had remained in the space for the foto. X1 is a large grinding stone, that had lain on it's belly. As I started scraping all the bumps away that had held up the sherds and bones, the boss thought it might be a good idea to spray this new unit 15174 and look whether one could recognize something I hadn't seen yesterday when I drew it. So that's what I did (brushing, spraying, looking) and there might have been a triangular darker shape jutting out of the north-wall, which I could not discern before, but it was regarded as not important enough to change the drawing or do anything else about it.
Not important enough to continue excavating was also the verdict on the whole space 345, though I took out one more x-find (x7), that was just coming up, as it seemed to belong to the two xs before. It has been recorded as belonging to unit 15172. These last three xxx were obsidian cores from one corner, closely located to each other. Maybe a cluster, maybe not. It's not been recorded as one.

After breakfast I got a new project: Excavate the two adjoining outer (?) walls - features 2428 and 2429 at the northern edge of the trnech to see, how walls really were constructed and maybe to simply get them out of the way. Now, these walls have been standing around in this heat for quite some time by now (2 years I think it was), so they are really dried out. At the moment it is a bit difficult to see the outline of them, as there was a large disturbance taken out before and I'm not sure whether the gap, that's cut between them is arbitrary or really along the outlines of the walls. As JMR said something about gaps of 5 to 7cm I think, this gap is a bit too large (15/20cm?) therefore at least partly cut too far.
Now my job will be to document in different units for mudbrick and mortar of each wall and in an other unit for the fill, what is in these walls and maybe how they were constructed. We'll see how much there is left to see, as there are a lot of burrowed disturbances. Today I took maybe 10cm off of wall 2428 and 2429 just to get them "clean", real work will begin on Saturday.
Brushing will be a pain in the lungs as I have noticed already: This dried out stuff produces perfect dust and there was a small breeze today, going (of course) in the wrong direction for me - blowing it right uo my nose and everywhere else. Been glad to shower today.

All in all I was surprised to see space 345 abandoned but we seriously don't have much time left, so it's time to prioritise. Now I feel absolutely bauchgeklatscht that I got this job, which's importance boss and trenchmaster repeatedly stressed.
SCS out.
