Excavation Diary Entry

Entry: Today I worked again in unit 15180 in space 449, defining the walls of the buttress 5057, which is disturbed in the NW-corner , wall 3333 , 3324 and butress 3326. After exposing the NE-corner completely, the photoshooting took place, and I began to draw this unit.
Interesting finds of the day were a lot of clayballs, keeping on appearing when only scratching once the soil in the S-E - corner. This clay ball cluster will be excavated seperatly, I think. In this concentration it is unique on the West mound. Several ground stones are also on this level located, as well as a big chunk of flint. When Roddy visited the site, he mentioned that on the East mound rooms have this composition of broken ground stone, masses of clay balls and so on deposited shortly before they are abandoned, so maybe we can reasonably hope that we are not too far away from a floor or at least a surface? It would be a very nice end of the excavation for, me, if I could take all those wonderful finds out, go deeper and finally find my first own floor.
Again I have to mention that our workers, especially Numan, are a big help not only for me, but for everyone of us. I think our progress in general wouldn`t be that fast if we didn`t have them.
