Entry: EMM continued working on the clay ball cluster U.15343 in Space 449. Its outlines are visible now, it is a heap of balls in the eastern part of the trench, fading towards west. IF finished room fill U.15335 in Space 310. At the present level, a seemingly solid plastered mudbrick construction (wall?) became visible under buttresses F.3301 and 3302. We have to spend more time cleaning and defining this structure, but it convinced my to attributed more space number to what was formerly subsumed under 310. Now, the space south of the two buttresses is called Space 454. The earlier phase of 310, surrounded by F.3312, 3313, 3314 and the newly visible wall (?) under 3302 and 3301 is called 453, as it probably has outlines different from the building above. Space 310 is now only the room surrounded by (later walls) 2408, 5058, 2427, its southern limit is an arbitrary line between buttresses 3302 and 3301. Note that all discussions this year, and also last year after the definition of the earlier building phase in this area still use Space number 310.

LKH finished 15194 (fill under floors 15170 and 15190) and also took a square of these floors out (including 15170, 15190, 15194 and 15191, fill between floors) for potential thin sectioning. XHB continued finding outlines of the large orange floor U.15341.

BOD started excavating room fill in Spaces 450 and 452 (15340). Because of a misunderstanding, she also removed the upper part of F.3328, which turned out to be a rather favourable thing in the end, because its outlines are now visible much better. It is a solid, rectangular mudbrick construction west of F.3326, apparently constructed later, as it is roughly parallel to the western face of F.3326, but not connected to it, having a 5-7cm gap in between. What this construction was inteded for is entirely unclear right now. Finds (animal bones and pottery) cluster along the western side of F.3328.

JFB drew the bone clusters (15192, 15199) in the pit F.3331 and took them out. She also removed the upper part of buttress 3302, because it was unstable, after documenting the pit cut 15185 that cuts it. 3302 was brought down to the level of wall F.2427. At this level, the construction technique is visible quite clearly: wall F.2427 form a minor extension in this part, buttress F.3302 was built against this litte extension. There is quite a substantial plaster layer in between them.

Spaces 454, 340, 341, 345 and 447 will not be excavated this season any more. We cleaned them today, made final photos and spaces and walls, also of all newly excavated structures in the southeastern part of the trench. SCS is now drawing wall elevations in Space 340 (F.2413 and 2428), as the base of these two walls are already reached and they are sitting on fill. Interesting walls elevations (that is, those showing building phases) in Space 341 and 310 will also be drawn in the next days. I am drawing plans of the relation between F.3332, 3333, 5075, 3324, 5067, 5057, 5056, 2427, 5068, 2408.
