| Entry: | Last task of the season - to clarify the interesting but confusing inter-buttress area - space 450. 452.
Today I started excavating the roomfill in space 450 (U.15340) which at this level turned out to be full of interesting finds - pottery clusters, articulated bone, etc. Although they cluster towards the East of the space, like the finds of the higher level - 15177, they are more spread out and in higher numbers. It felt a bit rushed, so I am afraid there will be fresh breaks in the nice vessels, and F.3328 was cut, but at least the new planum made the outlines clearer. F.3328 stands in front of the buttress, respecting it, and at this level the pottery cluster also respects the buttress. (I assume in the higher levels both the brick installation and the artefacts had been disturbed by collapse or something later.) The animal bones and pottery were surrounded by ashy patches. Maybe the fundtion of F.3328 was related to some cooking activity? |
