Entry: | My first diary entry of the season! Starting to make some real progress as we finished excavating the arbitrary layer, U.15351 with JHB and we can now see the top of a wall complete with mortar and also a darker area of soil which may be a pit. I spent most of the morning sieving which was hot and dusty work although with rewards such as finding some beautiful obsidian and even a small red stone bead. We found so much in this layer that the sorting through the finds seemed to take forever although the rest in the shade was a nice break. Then had the opportunity to clean some of the human bones with JFB in the lab which was really interesting, looking forward to seeing if we get a complete skull tomorrow and getting down into more of the mud brick architecture. |
