Entry: | We have continued to down the topsoil of unit 15357 (about 20cm down). Since the beginning of the excavation we have down about 60-70cm in this unit and we follow the “natural” slop. Near to the burial area (unit 15346), I noted several perturbations like spot of charcoal and burnt and red-orange clay patches. There are numerous white stones isolated or in the center of the area more grouped and some red tiles. Except the unit 15346, we haven’t found other burial (human bones organized). I have the impression we find less obsidian than on the topsoil (unit 15350) but animals bones seemed to be less fragmented. Pottery is always abundant and byzantine pottery is present with chalcolithic pottery. I think about a disturbed level as if first signs of chalcolithic level appeared in the west of the area. I excavate the beginning of a wall F.5058 and it seems very clear when I leveled the space (dark clay and white mortar near the grey soil). Tomorrow we finish this unit and after clean the area various sectors will be better delimited. |
