Entry: Excavation of space 446 and unit 15364 was continued today. What yesterday was identified as a possible wall running in a NE-SW direction (into the N baulk and F. 3320) was excavated. The interpretation of this feature as a wall remains unclear to me, particularly because of the appearance of plaster surface approx. 10cm below it, which is clearly a floor (U.15371), similar to the ones that were found in this same space last year (U. 15170, 15171 and 15341). The wall and the floor bear no visible connection between one another. If this was indeed a wall, it would be floating on a layer of fill (which was the only material found between the new plaster floor). The stratigraphy of the N section of the baulk does not aid in the identification of this wall either. This point, however, still needs to be clarified. The removal of F. 3320 and the extension of Space 446 towards the N in the future will shed further light on the interpretation of this feature.

The removal of the fill in unit 15364 allowed us to confirm the existence of another floor (pale yellow) in this space (U. 15371). As of today, this plaster floor shows reasonably good preservation in the NW corner, whereas it seems to be more badly preserved towards the south, and disappearing completely near the 'doorway' of the space. Nevertheless, the southern limit of the floor still needs to be defined. Towards the west this floor seems to run under F. 3320.

Although it still needs further excavation tomorrow, the NE corner of this floor is particularly interesting as it may show evidence of superimposition of three floors, the top one being the western limit of Unit 15341 (orangey floor excavated towards the end of last season).
