Excavation Diary Entry

Entry: This is the first diary entry of 2011. We are working in B97 which had been exposed by Mellart and with the northern part of the building truncated during his excavations. The northern part of the building was burnt during the same burning event that spread from B79, B80, B76 through the northern part of B.96. The upper surfaces of the building are heavily eroded and patchy but we are now getting down the better preserved layers below. After the removal of foors and platform surfaces the two northern platforms are now also removed (F.3459 and F.3455). The the south east corner a series of patchy dirty floor and the remains of what may be the post ladder-scar are currently under excavation. The infill of the building was mostly removed by Mellaart by he did leave a triangle fo fill where the southern wall meets the eastern wall at a acute angle. Within the fill (19245) were bits of human remains most disarticulated. Within the fill of the bin in the southwest corner of the building human remains were also excavated. It therefore seems to be a odd thing with bits of human left in the building at its abandonment.
