Last day of digging.
Dug [ 3971 ] - part of series of thin plaster layers and grey make-up layers towards the edge of excavation. Took off one thin plaster layer and grey make-up layer as unit [ 3971 ]. Excavated small remnant of [ 3968 ]. Dug [ 3972] which originally I thought would be the surface of a hearth - but found that actually capping what is almost certainly another oven cut into the infill This links with the ‘hearth’ feature found to the east of the baulk. Apparent backfill/infill of the oven [ 3977] - planned - if this is backfill then it’s occup. material rather than clean deliberate backfill as was case with ovens F87 & F252.
