Entry: | Today I continued work on leveling burial fill 15391 from Sk. 15390, and then started to continue work on burial F. 3342 unit 15385. RHB assisted with the excavation of this unit, and we located a number of iron nails (6 so far), as well as isolated human remains, a few from an infant (phalanges, metatarsals), and one from an adult (carpal). We did manage to find some on a similar level, which are an ulna, ribs, and what so far appear to be vertebrae. It is most likely disturbed, as DLG found directly outside the burial mudbrick 15382 baby remains - which makes sense with the amount of animal burrows and activity in this area. We are already about 25 centimeters down in the burial fill, and it is slightly disappointing that the burial has been disturbed, besides it makes it that much more difficult to excavate. Hopefully some of the infant is in situ at some point. |
