Entry: | On 4th of July the field work concentrated on the exploration of the room fill [U. 19390] placed within the space 470. In its eastern part it was evidently truncated and left fragmentarily by Mellaart (just as the other layers above the fill [19389, 19388]). During the exploration it appeared that we have to do with midden-like accumulation with compound layered deposit. Due to long exposition and rumple surface of the layer we have decided to execute the unit till reasonable level, respecting the actual boundaries such as existing walls. It seems that we have closed space because already recorded walls run around the excavating area. Additionally in eastern part of the space there were plastered corners found. Due to lack of any floor in this area, except for fragments of U.19388 that was associated with occupational level VI, we may assume that the space might have been related with VII level using Mellaart terminology. |
