Entry: In building 97 we are slowly moving forward.. The stratigraphy is extremely complex, since many layers don’t overlap but only "meet" where different structures connect (platforms, spaces etc.). We seem to finally be reaching a level where major parts of the building are contemporary (the central and northeastern parts), while the others: space 469 (storage area) and the southern part (dirty floor with hearth) are earlier. It is sometimes frustrating to feel that you really can’t manage to understand what’s on top or under what, but then again it is also quite rewarding when you succeed in figuring it out - I feel that I am learning a lot!

Having almost exclusively worked with historical archaeology in Sweden, I can conclude that archaeology is archaeology no matter what or where you dig - or rather, that methodology is what counts when it comes down to understanding. I probably would have been more confused if I was to work on a much later site in Sweden using methods that I normally don’t work with, than I am here. It’s warm, it’s dirty, it’s difficult - but I like it!
