| Entry: | After the incredible week our excavation area were getting better than before. We defined also outlines of the grave cuts. These graves might have been 3 big pits. But there are more questions about this area. Whats happened here? Was there a typical Çatalhöyük’ grave pattern? Were these burials underneath of platform? Or just were there some pits above of the room fill? Was there a grave chamber here? Also the bottom of the mound was disturb. Maybe it might have been diffent kind of burial pattern. We had to find some solutions of these questions. It was so understand to What’s happened here? I was trying to discuss with the another friends especially with Kasha. At first we decided that we had to lift to 3 skulls and some bone cluster. They had a really bad conditions at the same time,besides we coulnt define any related bones. And also they were in different level. We lifted 3 these skulls and bone cluster. These bone cluster and one skull was a one individual , we thought that. But after Chris’s analyse there might have been 2 individuals in here. When we lifted these we decided that we should have exposed to southern of grave cut. Nearly we defined to the border of this cut( F.3639). We exposed some bones and seemed to be articulation. After that when we exposed these more , they were like a bone cluster and they were surrounded to grave cut. There were 2 disturb skulls and some bones clusters. It was so difficult recognize this situation. But we could define so easily , the centre of infill was so different than the edges of infill. It was soo loose and colour was different. Suddenly we found a pottery fragment in the fill. We thought that there was a late pit in here. When we asked to pottery specialists they also said that it was a late pottery. After progress of the excavation it should have been a animal burrow and a pottery fragment. We thought like that because the bottom of the infill we defined that articulated bones. It might not have disturb by late period. Probably they might have been dig by the Neolithic people after they could have pushed the bones edges of cut and after that they buried the late burial or burials. Upper skeletons had bad conditions. But it was getting more good conditions along the bottom layer. Along the bottom the infill was continued. I seems to be 2 different cuts. But we were not sure about it. It will be more clear progress of excavation. Day by day the another burial was getting bad condition which we found obsidian mirror. We started to expose to the bones. And started to take too many x-finds . We found lots of various beads. Some of beads were spreaded. But some of these seemed to be articulated. One of the cluster might have been anklet. We exposed that around the foot bones. Beads were so interesting . But one of the more interesting than others. It was a malachite. We were excited about find of burials. Apart from find we have to find some results about these graves. Too many questions about these, positions of skeletons , burial pattern, location of graves and finds . We hope so at the progress of the excavation we will find some logical results fort his area. |
