Entry: Work is progressing in building 97. After having been quite certain that we would not finish it this season, we have actually begun to feel that maybe, maybe, it could happen.. We have now almost completely removed a make-up layer (U. 20341) that covers large parts of the building. In the southern part of the building remains a dirty floor and a hearth (earlier than 20341) and along the western wall floor and make-up layers pertaining to the storage area Sp. 469 (earlier than or contemporary with 20341). Hence, we are down to a contemporary level, which should be early in the life of building 97 - there may only remain a foundation layer in the house after we have removed the above mentioned features, if we don't hit upon another floor level.

It is a complicated house, though, and we still also have to figure out what the mysterious "curb", thatr was protruding through the make-up 20341 in the soutwestern part of the central floor, is. It has the dimension of a bench, but does not really look like one. It consists of a clay "wall" c. 7-8 cm thick, continuing at least 10 cm down through the layer that is below 20341, and it has plaster on its "outside" (southern side). Connected to it, towards north, is a 0,5 cm thin clay layer in a rectangular shape of "benchly" proportions, seemingly on top of the layer into which the wall goes down. What is this?!
