Excavation Diary Entry

Entry: We finished yesterday the excavation of unit 16980, which was also the last layer within the space 341. We reached the floor there and for the first time we have floors in the West Mound (building 98). In most of the walls the floor seemed to enter within the supposed walls of the building, hinting that the floor is unrelated to the structure that contained these walls. Excavating a floor was a pleasing process, because the coloring of the surface became homogenous with every stroke of the trowel. It was nice to see the uniform color appearing slowly in the entire building. It was like making love to a women, slowly undressing her until it layed vulnerable next to you.
Today, we started excavating the room fill (unit 16997) on top of the southern half of building 105 witch is in the SW corner of Trench 5. Immediately we collected and recorded numerous finds, such as pottery, bones, obsidan and half a dozen bone tools. The amount of bone tools was unprecedented, especially when considering that the layer was only 5cm thick. There were not so many clay balls as in building 98, but it is always cool starting something new.
