Entry: | Space 164. Building 7. Since my last diary entry, we have moved on from drawing the east-facing wall elevation , and are about half-way through the south-facing wall elevation. Both had considerable remnants of plaster facing - both of which were excavated today. The remaining brick and mortar behind the plaster still has to be planned - tomorrow, and probably into the next working day. The east-facing elevation has yet to be given unit numbers, but the plaster on the south-facing elevation is (4370), and the feature number is F.448. There is a wall scar in the central area of the east-facing elevation , and a possible post scar to the west of the south-facing elevation. There are also remnants of floor layers, abutting? the south-facing wall - two strips, close together, just east of the central area , mid. height about 1004.54. The larger strip measures approx. 0.70m. east-west , depth 0.095m. max. There are no other major features visible in either elevation , though there are two large truncations in the east-facing wall. One in the central area may just represent collapse, and we suspect the other towards the north may be modern - associated with Mellart's excavation. We have left steps in the north-west corner of Building 7 for the time being , which may obscure other features.Entered By: Jez Taylor |
