Entry: | The goal of this day was to remove the fill (unit 18356) of the entire open space of 105. This included the entire SE space, the entire central space, and parts of the NE and NW spaces. The depth of the fill removed was about 10cm. Although we did remove a lot a dirt and we did find numerous artifacts (large ceramics, bone, ground stones, etc), I was told by my "room mate = mon cherie = CMF" that the previous layer had more finds than this. The SE space revealed quite a few shallow pots or low profile bowls. Most of the central space contained large sherds of very large pots that might have been storage vessels. Three horns were found as well, one in the SE space and two in the central space; the latter, very close to the boundary betweeen the two spaces. The horns belonged to different animals, as they had different shapes. Two were caprine, probably goat (one had a cork-screw curvature like wild goats, the other was flat on one side and a had a slight curve going backward), and the third was large, ptobably bovine. The latter was not removed from the ground, because was very britle. It will be removed with the next layer. We did not make it to finish up the entire space, but we will tomorrow. |
