Entry: | The last day of excavation today. We excavated mostly in the northern area of the BLDG 105 (Unit 18370), which was slightly higher than the southern section. The goal was to reveal the collapse material without removing it. We also attempted to remove fill from the walls in order to expose them all the way to the excavated level. The northern buttress, F.3365, again happened to be more problematic, as the wall was deeper than the we thought. The eastern (F.3353) and the southern (F.3366) buttresses were easier to reveal. The western buttress (F.5052) was still covered with collapse material and we left it for the next season. We did not touch much the larger collapse wall (Unit 18372)in the middle of the unit 18370. We only attempted to define its northern limits. Yet, this was impeded by the semi circular plastered features immediately north of the collapsed wall. So, the excavation of this wall will be left for next year as well. |
