Entry: | Today I was called up to site to excavate the beautifully preserved dog skeleton in the TPC area. It was so well preserved that the costal cartilidge (ossified soft tissue surrounding the ribcage) was present. The individual had some interesting pathologies-the humerus showed evidence of a healed fracture/displacement, and was warped, with extra boney growth, very interesting to see.
It is the first dog burial identified on site that we know of (aside from the odd body part here and there), and unfortuantely it is not Neolithic, but it will be interesting to see the radiocarbon dates.
Anyone want to find me more animal burials? I don't get to come up to site nearly often enough! |
