| Entry: | Today we of building 118 discovered that it is likely that Mellaart actually cut through the building so that what we have actually been looking at isn't much of anything at all. It might all just be room fill. To me this is just one more indication of the frustration of picking up Mellaart's pieces. Not only is the room heavily eroded, making the stratigraphy hard to ascertain and thus slowing down the entire excavation process, but now this! It gives me a new level of appreciation for the way in which we now excavate. While at times I find the time spent carefully detailing layers and cuts to be poorly spent, I can see it's better to be excessively, rather than insufficiently, meticulous. |
