Excavation Diary Entry

Entry: It's now been a week or so since I moved from TPC 2 to TPC 3. I got the fortunate opportunity to work in space 493, discovered and planned by Allison in 2012. The space consists of an infill belonging to a small wall bounded space, heavily burned. Pretty soon we discovered bin structures under the top parts of the fill. At least 3 bins, and maybe a fire installation has been exposed, all with quite intact walls. The smallest one is the most qurious, measuring approx. 30x30 cm standing on its own in the south west part of the space. Its fill has not yet been excavated but there are hopes for it containing mustard seeds.

We've had specialists, mainly bothanists and conservationists , coming and going all the time. This is because we have in situ burned wooden structures and objects, and of course alot of barley and ember wheat. The biggest bin is full of barley, and in the space fill, we seem to have fallen down containers of grain, leaving a small round concentration in the fill.

Concerning artefacts we've had ground stone, obsidian point and nicely basket shaped, decorated pottery.

To be continued---
