Entry: Final brushing of B107 before breakfast and photos! Started planned section in the corner of F5074 and F2425 with DSE. The main goal for the next days is to elucidate how the corner is built and how the bricks are connecting to each other. Further section through the buttress F3339 will then hopefully help us clear the stratigraphic relationships between the different features of the North-east corner of building B107. First step: removal of first brick+mortar layer of F2425, until the section aligns with the end of wall F2413 of B105. Bricks reveal shorter than expected, about 40cm long. The connection is still not clear so we start to remove the first layer of F5074. The bricks have for now a very unclear shape, some very small, other with a very irregular surface. Some are separated by mortar and other aren’t. Broken bricks might have been used, as well as patches of mud and mortar. The orientation is NS in the corner, but rather WE the more they get further away from it. One (or two?) of them, next to the disturbance due to a younger pit, seem to be quite concave, and the brick and mortar layers laying under it are somehow overlapping each other. This might according to DSE indicate wall collapse. On this level the two wall parts have been separated by mortar, the corner is built only by F5074. Wall inclusions are mostly animal bones and some obsidian flakes were found.

Impressions: amazing work to do, but recognizing boundaries between mortar and bricks is so far very tricky for me, both end up being quite crumbly!
