Entry: Starting to get into some interesting archaeology again , working in the ‘ante-chamber’ of Building 6. Took off a small block of wall material, apparently collapse (4437) that was overlying the fill (4321) above the point where there is a crawl-hole through between space 163 and 159. Taking out (4321) where it filled the crawl-hole realised that there was a short stub of wall F.484 left in situ on the north side and could see the start of the top of the crawl-hole wýth a thin surface of plaster visible. A small remnant of the ‘collapsed’ wall material (4437) is lying against the top of the crawl-hole. Continuing to excavate in the north-west corner of this space came down to what looks suspiciously like the remains of a bin. There is the start of a plaster face emerging from the east face of wall F.484 and also a plaster face running N-S, and it appears as if the bin has been demolished and backfilled with wall demolition material ( completely different to (4321) used to fill this space ). This apparent bin is right in front of the crawl-hole so it would appear that the bin was demolished when the crawl-hole was knocked through the wall. This implies that when this room was first in use during this phase there was no direct connection with the room to the west? We’re not down to the floor in this corner yet though so the bin is not fully exposed.Entered By: Richard Turnbull
