Entry: Today I and TET finished excavation of U31215. We discovered multiple shards of the rare incised pottery which is needed by our pottery specialist to reconstruct the link between the east and the west mound. The particular pieces we found are black incised pottery and seem to belong to the same object. And now something completely different. Since the invention of the computer catalhöyük has accumulated thousands maybe ten thousands even hundred thousands of diary entries which are more or less the same. This will change now. In fact this diary entry is the last of its kind. By tomorrow I will reinvent the diary entry. Anyways the incised pottery we found had multiple types of incisions. Sharp zigzag patterns with bands and the dotted lines with bands. This pottery is especially interesting since it might be a type from another site located around catalhöyük. TET additionally was able to trace the buttress F3384 from its northern side but I have left space 98 by that time and started to help figuring out how many phases were present in building 107. We cut back parts of the walls and were able to actually see that 107 had 2 building phases instead of 3 which was actually a possibility. For that we used the water pump to make the profıle/wall wet. We were able to see how the mortars between the mud brick were very different from one another. The younger phase has mortar which is dark brownish / reddish and sits in very distinct chunks between the mud bricks. The mortar lines from the older level were harder to see and are not chunky but homogenous (pretty homogenous grey clay).
