Excavation Diary Entry

Entry: A lot of points from the total station were the start of my day. There were many units to be closed and therefore many bottom levels to be taken. After this was finished, I started a small section on the Feature 3385 which GWN excavated before. As it was our last day of excavation, we wanted to take a short peek into what lies below the installation.
A section of similar size was cut into the newly discovered Feature 3391 with the same goal.
The first section did not bare any surprises. Only the expected fill layers could be seen. In the section on F.3391, there was some new information. Apparently the grey layer outside the installation continues into the inside, where it looks different on the surface, because it is burned. Therefore the likelyhood of a fire installation is high. For the very last day of an eight year long excavation, everything went along quite smoothly and relaxed. Everybody finished their units in time and the next days will be spent with cleaning and eventually the preparations for the refill of the trench.
