Entry: | Yesterday I wrote about an oven like structure that didn't connect to the floor, so we thought that structure had fallen into the building. In an epic twist of fate, it has been proposed that maybe the floor isn't the floor at all. Maybe, the structure goes even deeper and we have been deluded into standing on a false floor. This is both thrilling and depressing at the same time. Thrilling because there is now the possibility of a more real view of this unit. Depressing because the stable floor we thought we had found, upon which we could base our understanding of this unit, might not actually exist. As we desperately dig at the former floor, we also less desperately dig at a small partition wall. I feel like every scrath with my trowel is like removing a block in jenga. Every time I look away the wall seems to tip over even more. However, tomorrow we the magicians at conservation will hoepfully be able to stabalize and keep it from collapsing entirely. |
