Excavation Diary Entry

Entry: Towards the end of this week we began removing the outside walls of our space. After removing the infill we realized that they were floating, and likely belonged to an eroded, later building. In some ways it was sad to dismantle these walls - they belonged to a home that was too eroded to ever really be seen. The small fire pit-like feature that we excavated in the south east corner of the infill maybe was related to this building as well - we aren't really sure what it was. After removing some of the walls to confirm that they were infact later, we posthumously named the building they belonged to building 128. We acknoweldged its existence without being able to understand much about it. The burned pit reminded me of the time my brother burned a circle on our deck back home after making too hot of a fire in the pit. Unfortunately, these stories have been lost along with building 128, but I am hoping that we will be able to uncover more stories beneath the infill.
