Entry: Building 52, or the building 52 that existed prior to its (purposeful?) burning, is finally starting to emerge beneath our feet. I'm excited by the prospect of a building consisting of more than burned infill, not that I didn't appreciate what the building looked like before. If more of space 94 looks like the smooth, gray plaster of platform F. 3695 hidden beneath its scortched exterior we could have something nice on our hands.

What surprises me most about excavation is the manner in which we excavate simple things, like color, to suit our modern expectations. As I dug through an infill layer on platform F. 3695, I expected to see white plaster as the next layer in the sequence. To me, plaster is white.

The silky, gray layer that appeared before me changed my opinion of what plaster could be.

It looks nice. Makes me wonder why we don't use gray plaster.
