Entry: | Half way through the week already and I have hardly dug anything. This is largely due to bad weather but also because of recording walls, lack of the hoist as Richard is drawing that elevation and the shelter going up. Oh well it should start to improve now. Have removed the infill from Bin F.466 which looks to be typical infilling material with a little bit of bin structure. The bottom didn’t seem to have been scoured as those in building 5 were but most of the base seemed to have gone through wear during use anyway. I couldn’t see any primary fill but sampled it anyway and I imagine it will probably be prioritised. I think that the building 1 lentil bin and other spectacular finds will haunt this project for ever, we keep on hoping for the same results but 99% of the time we won’t find them. Also spent some time trying to decide where the division between 1960’s backfill and Neolithic infilling is, this can be quite difficult when you have only a small area. Due to the complexities of the finds systems the need to give things numbers immediately and the sheer work of re-numbering this means that quasi-spurious unnecessary numbers are generated - (4662) / (4663). This isn’t really a problem but somehow offends my aesthetic sensibilities.Entered By: Craig Cessford |
