Entry: The last weeks had been very intensive. I had been working in three different spaces Sp565, Sp. 600 and also the Sp551 in the building 160. At the same time I passed to work alone to be part of a group, digging with Numan, Onur and Marek. I'm enjoying a lot the possibility to work close with more people, and mostly with the fact that all of them had been working in Catal for many years!!!! So I really appreciate the possibility to learn from them and comment and discuss what is going on in our building.
When I finish in the Sp565, was obvious that outside the space, attached to the W wall there was remains of infill between walls and rubble, that was not removed the seasons before and that now we have to remove try to clarify which with building belongs and also try to understand what it is.
I shared this job with Marek, and was a pleasure to work with him. We clean in plant again the remains at W of the F8010 and apart from the infill and the rubble was visible the remains of two post holes. From the beginning one question was planning in our heads….To which building belong this post holes, that seems to be outside a wall?? The building 43 site at W of this features was already dismantled, so there was part of that building? Why the post are not in the middle of the wall???
Anyway, with this questions we start to dig the post holes F7810 (North) and 7809 (South). After remove the infill and realized that in both there was remains of mineralized wood we saw remains of plaster at the edges of these features and another line of plaster in the section that seems to be connected with this post, too. Then we remove the rubble exposed from the last year and we realize that there was also plaster in the W wall (F8010) of the Sp565. So in that moment was obvious that the F8010 had plaster in both sides, so could indicate that there was another room in the W of the Sp 565.
At that time we was also able to affirm that the Sp 565 was the side room of the Building 89, because the walls of this small space was bonded with the walls of that building. So at that moment. The building 89 had two side rooms, the Sp 565 and another one, with two post holes that maybe was removed with the construction of the Building 43.

After this first interpretation, and with the post holes completely dig, we decided to follow the line of plaster visible in section and that in a way was connected with both post holes, something that we confirm when we remove the infill above (U22374). After that was clear that the plaster was related with the both post holes and also we realize that the plaster in the wall F8010 was present just between the post holes and not in the rest of the wall. So after that, our first interpretation start to change, was no very clear the presence of another side room for the building 89. We change impressions with Burcu of course and also with Arek and Duigu…and then Marek saw the light!!! If this post holes was related with a niche existing in the building 43 which end was the W wall of the Sp 565???
So when we finish with the excavation in this small area, seems clear that the building 43 had a side room (the Sp 600) with two post holes and a crowhole. After that for any reason they build the building 89 with their side room (Sp 565), in that moment the Sp 600 was dismantled and cut by the Sp 565. So they fill the space between the W wall of Sp 565 and the E wall of the building 43 with rubble and infill between walls, and in the space where was the crowhole, they made a niche and plastered, using as a edge of this niche the W wall of the building 565. This will explain why the wall only had plaster in small part of all this extension and also give sense to the remains of very eroded wall in north of the Sp 565 (outside). This wall that at the beginning seems not be connected with anything, now is evident that is the remains of the north wall of the old Sp 600.
After clarify this, we start to dig inside the building 160, removing a few features and exposing the latest phase of that building where we are still working, the four of us….
