Today I excavated the plaster layers in bin 518 in the northwest corner of space 173. These plaster layers (4725 - 4730) were mainly in the western half of the bin, under bin fill 4618. Some of these just made up the bin edges on the north and west sides, and others covered both the sides, the base and merged with the wall plaster. So it looks as though this bin had been re-plastered several times and that during replastering both the sides and the base were plastered to create a curved junction between the base and sides. The bin was also plastered into the walls. The final layer of plaster seems to run under the southern bin arm and thus represents an earlier floor layer.

Cleaned the area to the east of bin 518 and found the southern arm of bin 488. The western arm appears to have been truncated, although it may continue south as there is a line of plaster. The possible fill of the bin, as yet unnumbered, is a mixed, bricky material, which once excavated will define the extent of the western arm. The southern arm extends west past the limit of the western arm, and so may also constitute the southern arm of a bin between f.518 and f.488.Entered By: Lucy Hawkes
