Excavation Diary Entry

Entry: Have spent the last couple of days removing bits of walls - F.467, F.469 and F.507 - and doing various other bits and pieces such as helping Wendy as she was cutting blocks. I will probably spend tomorrow catching up on paperwork and perhaps helping with the shelter. This is all very much clearing the decks before I start going down again and is all vital but slightly frustrating as I want to get going downwards.

Being of a pessimistic frame of mind I think we may have about 5 to 6 metres to go - ie from c.1003m OD where I am at the moment to c.997 to 998m OD for natural. Hopefully we will core relatively soon and clarify this. Not only does 6 metres mean a 2 metre per month work rate which is challenging to the point of impossibility it is a logistical/shoring/safety nightmare. I hope that I am wrong.Entered By: Craig Cessford
