| Entry: | The oven area I abandoned 2 weeks ago was inherited by Anwen and now that she has more or less completed this area we have been able to sort out the matrix . We did end up deciding - after checking the digital photos, plans and the sketches on the unit sheets, that 4739 did need to be split into two separate units - retained 4739 for the greater part of the deposit as originally excavated i.e. the oven demolition material used as backfill and took out a new number for the superficial scorching/burning (4967). Did take us a while to decide where to put 4967 and 4738 ( plaster floor ) in the revised matrix but in he end decided that 4967 belongs stratigraphically over 4953 ( adjacent oven base ).
Since coming back off holiday I’ve been floating around - working with Charlie and Duncan for a couple of days in space 170, helping with cleaning, sampling and taking out a few minor features; and then back into space 181, below space 178, helping to take out stabling deposits...Entered By: Richard Turnbull |
