| Entry: | After last nights discussion on the unit sheet, I spent the day writing the instructions on how to complete the form as well, it's not quite finished. I also drew up an ammended version of the sheet, unfortunately the photocopying shop was closed and I fear we'll run out of sheets tomorrow. Consequently I don't really know what happened on site today and shall catch up on units tomorrow. I was however up there this morning and briefly in the afternoon. During the course of located the section line in space 106 Atakhan and I found one of our TBM's was out by ca. 0.5m. This was quite drastic but Colin and Atakhan have resolved the problem, we are no longer floating. The records will need ammending however. Naomi and Cicek have taken out have of the blocking between spaces 107 and 108 and Wendy has taken some samples. It's not been recorded on form yet though as Naomi forgot we have a wall recording sheet, rough and ready as it is, I still drew it up last week just for this eventuality. Ali and Ian came across a cluster of bone in their midden deposits and Anwen and Jon have begun taking the west half of the space down to the level they stopped at yesterday. Jon can't define a southern wall to this space and suspects it's not there. However Mellaart has drawn this wall on is plans at this level. It is possible that the depth of the S wall was the same or similar to the N wall and Mellaart removed it as he dug deeper in Shrines 1 and 8 to the S, thereby leaving no trace. Mary and Roddy apparently dug a small slot trench up to the S wall, I haven't seen this yet so I'll report tomorrow. The workmen had very little to do today. By mid morning some of them went to work on the long trench being dug by Peter and Jamie. The problem of little work for them will continue to arise until we get more sieves and double up on that. We should have other general jobs lined up for them to do until the Greek team arrive, otherwise I end up running around job creating for them.Entered By: Shahina Farid |
