Our 3 workers are making bricks for the Experimental house

Floor and Platforms
Feature 173: Sonya finishes taking off latest floor in SW quadrant (3593). She leaves the edge of the platform where plaster is built up until we see what happens with the floor. There is a little black filling under the floor which is included in this unit. The extent can be seen in the south-facing profile of this unit.

Floor area of space 86 is designated Feature 606.

Sonya starts to excavate NE quadrant of Feature 606 kitty-corner to the platform quad she was just in.. In this quad 4 layers of floor replastering are densely packed and lifted as one unit (6102) down to a floor ca. 1 cm down. There is no filling/packing between these floors. In the SE corner of this quad, the floor is associated with intense salt deposits and a group of small stone blocks (?grindstones). Mira thinks there was some kind of fire installation near here.

Feature 170, SW quad, Paolo removes blobs of latest floor and platform edge (6101).

Cuts through floors and platforms
Feature 169: Alex cleans out little pit F.604 but nothing except it goes down to underlying floor.

Feature 602: Bob and I continue excavating and taking photos every 5-10 cm. A big brick lying horizontally at surface-20 cm below takes for ever to dig through. At 20 cm below surface is a shallow lens of burned earth. I think at first that this a floor expanding. It's interesting that it's at the same level as a floor of burned earth in platform 173 but much thinner. Maybe the lens in the pit is stuff that spilled out into the pit. I am tempted to take down the X-section to understand what's going on but resist this. A deeper part of the pit seems to be emerging in the NE corner. Bob removes the rest of the cow horn that was protruding into the pit from higher up in 1998 (behind the roof collapse) (**unit) after measuring its lowest point. Big plaster slab sloping down in cross section from pit's wall down towards east.

Screen Wall
Mira cleans out definite posthole at southern end next to ridge on east surface of little wall (F.161) and next to "pillar". It contains charcoal and has some wood impressions.
10 pm Pedja and Ana are back. Mira takes samples from base of plaster against east surface of screen wall.(next to unit 3563). There is another posy hole in the screen wall at its northern end.

West wall
Heidi finishes cleaning out packing wall bricks down to original wall. Now we can see the line of the internal plaster coating of the original west wall. The replacement bricks also have a plaster facing but very different (see Mira's diary for details). In front of and under replacement bricks, we can see more orange bricky features which represent the tops of possible bins etc. near the original floor of space 158.

Space 87
Anne-Marie and Casey are cleaning to reveal the internal plaster coatings of all four walls. SE corner of space 87 has been destroyed by Post-Neolithic Grave #2.

Space 89
Ana goes deeper through dark fill around possible "platformy" thing.
