Entry: | We had quite an eventful day yesterday. Towards the end of the day Emma was removing the bricks from the oven (F111) and was stung by a scorpion in the process !! She was taken to the hospital in Konya and treated. I am glad to say that it was nothing serious and she is fighting fit today.
Excavation has so far concentrated on 4 areas:
1) Platform north of Bench (See next diary entry for in depth discussion)
2) Series of deposits which may reflect the fixing of a platform (F1303). On the edge of a platform in the southwest corner of building 10 there were a few small deposits identified sitting on the western edge of the platform. These deposits were given the unit numbers 8014, 8015 and 8016. These units were not planned individually but added to the composite plan (03/500) and sketched on the back of unit sheet 8014.
3) Bench (F1301) (See next diary entry for in depth discussion)
4) Oven (F111) Unit numbers so far allocated to this oven are given here in stratigraphic order;
8002, 8006, 8008, 8009, 8010, 8011, 8012, 8019, 8017
The mudbricks forming the perimeter of the oven have been given the unit number 8023 and the mortar in between the bricks the number 8024. These 2 layers were removed as they were rapidly crumbling as a result of excavation.
See next diary entry for discussion.
